Cold start problems

So, I recently returned to my 86 4000S after it was sitting for about 6 months. Had some work done on it but seldom driven during that time. Now, the car seems fine except it has the hardest time starting after sitting for more than a few hours. Takes several minutes before it starts, and until the car warms up it often dies unless the engine is revved.
I think the original tank of gas was still in there. I have since driven that off, but put in more crappy gas, before I knew the extent of the problem.
Is this a problem of dirty fuel injectors that a fuel system cleaner can take care of? or is this something more serious in the fuel lines, or spark plugs or something else? When it's cold and I try to accelerate there is hesitation and some kickback. Not terrible, but very annoying. Also don't like cranking on her that much every time I need to go somewhere.
Any help would be great. Thanks.

Take the valve out and point it into a clear bottle. Ground the ignition coil and crank the engine for 10 sec. Depending on the temperature, the spray from the valve should stop after a few sec (cleanly).
This is very dangerous because you're working with fuel. Be very careful.

...is the thermo sensor that feeds the control unit. I don't know exactly where it is on your car, but on the 4000q's it's poking into the bottom part of the top neck on the motor which leads to the radiator. Check it with a multi meter, should be about 2.5k Ohms at 68F, higher colder and lower hotter.

...my commed starts right up on the second or third crank in the cold but...it will barely hold idle until warmed up a bit. I never had this problem before the weather turned cold. I dont believe either my CSV or ISV are to blame. Peeps on the forum have told me to look for vaccum leaks but i havent had the time to do that and now its getting too damn cold to be doing the driveway mechanic thing. I have been using my 72 CD case logic case on it binder end to lean on the accelerator just enought to keep her at 800 or so rpm for the first few minutes while I go back inside and let her warm up.
You gotta love AUDI's !!!!!
Ill get around to finding the real problem as soon as I get out and fix my red's driver side door handle and put the commed in the garage for the winter.
