Lately, for the past few months, my 4kq has been difficult to start when cold, or so it seems. When I start the car, I turn the key, hold it, and it feels like the car is gonna start, so I let the key go, and for a second or so, it doesnt seem like anything happened, then magically, the car comes to life, and idles fine. Other times, I would try and start it, no go, but when I would try again right after that, it would start up.
CSV not working properly perhaps? Ignition components are fairly new, minus the rotor and distributor itself (of course). Injectors are original as well, as far as I can tell at least.
I had the coolant temp sensor fail last year, but it was way harder to start then.
This really isnt a big deal, but my 85 4k starts up everytime when its cold, no fuss at all. Id just like to not have to try starting the car twice to get it to go, when its cold ou.
Ya'll gots any idears?![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

check the wires and rotor/cap then move to the FI. Try starting cold with the Fuel pump relay jumpered (to trick the car into raising fuel pressure) - if that works you may have a pressure regulator out of range. Next is to test the cold start valve (the 6th fuel injector) by pulling the valve out and cranking the engine while holding the valve into a can or glass to check for a fan shaped spray (you can clean it first by soaking it in carb cleaner and some have suggested MEK. There is also a thermo timer switch (looks like a temp sensor) that may be in play.
