Default Converting a GT to quattro

I've seem some photos on someone's personnal website of a (seemingly abandoned) attempt to convert a Coupe GT to a Coupe quattro. Does anyone have the link to it, as I've lost it?????....
There are also some pictures out there of a similar conversion done to an Audi 100S coupe....

Thanks,

James

Default There's a reason the project got abandoned..

IF you look at the amount of work required to convert a coupe into a 'coupe quattro', you may consider just buying a urq..

That's what Martin did.

Some thoughts:

1) When you are finished, you still only have a AWD coupe, not a urq. Still need the cool fenders and valence to make it a 'urq' replica.

2) If you want AWD, and turbo, may as well turbo a 4kq. Not *too* much performance difference really, between a urq, and a turbo 4kq..

It's a LOT of work changing the floor pan..

I noticed the Ontario plates...
Anyone here know where the car and where it is located?

Default not to mention you'll have to get a rollcage welded in to preserve handling.

cutting out the floorpan like that totally ruins the structural integrity of the unibody, and no amount of welding will fully restore it.

Also, it's not as simple as swapping out floorpans and transmissions. You'll need to consider the gas tank, suspension, and exhaust, to name a few.

Default Not really, if done properly like I did (drilling out spot welds) you can make it exactly the same..

as if it came from factory. I abandoned the project because of lack of space, time and place to finish.. by that time I already had two Ur-qs so the need for a Coupe quattro has been filled.
I wish I had the time to finish it.. the floor had channels a'la A2 welded in for extra strenght.. with a 20v turbo it would have been a quite a sleeper.. May she RIP.
