Default Re: do you get the taxes back if it leaves the country immediately?

Not sure what you mean by immediately, since these will be 20 year old cars...

I'm no tax expert, but no I don't think you'll get any taxes back. Which is probably why no one exports cars from this country

I'd rather find 1 in Sweden also, as that'd be most likely were I'd find a port to ship from.

Canada's importation laws are very lax on 15+ yr old cars, hence my interest also ; - )

Default Not very interested if it's a rust bucket

40,000 dkr is ~$7400 cdn, seems pretty high if it's in poor shape.

Are you certain about the tax being refunded when I export? I'd be more interested if I'd be getting it for less, can you try to provide links w/ info on the taxes if you have them.

thanks

yup, quite sure about the tax refund, the way it works is that the seller will ask/get the refund before he sells you the car, so you will never pay the high danish price, but the low value which should correspond the the market value everywhere else when considering supply/demand and so forth.

Of course seller needs to be sure that he really can sell it to you before asking for the refund, because the car will be unsellable in DK after the taxes been refunded.

anyway, i?ve only seen the car in the dark, using a flashlight, and rust was visible pretty much everywhere not really bad, but as soon as it get started is hard to stop, so i would?t recommend it, if its visible, how about all the places you cant see, and the bottom. And thats still not taking the high milage in account, it does sound very healthy though, but everything else is bound to "broken in"

If you want an euro car, my advice is to get a car from Schwitzerland or southern Germany, as they do not use salt in the winter time, and even old cars (15-20years) are virtueally rustfree, and it?s possible to find low milage cars for reasonable money also.

My 91 S2 is from Ingolstadt, Germany, all the way down, and theres is next to nothing on it, and certanly not on in the body.

Default or just ship out of Rotterdam, major port for shipping to the US

unless you got a special agreement in Sweden of course.

Actually think, that cargo loaded in Sweden most likely will be rehandled somewhere in Germany/Holland anyway in order to go to the US

Default I'd be shipping from Sweden becuase of previous arangements.

I'd be sharing a container which would originate from Sweden, even if it were rehandled later I'd still need it locked & loaded from Sweden.
