What is a good place to buy the driversside CV axle and what do they approx cost?

Thanks

Default

Be aware '87.5 shafts are unique to SB's only, doesn't cross over to other CGT's

Default GT is correct. I tried to get one from Raxels, but it didn't fit. Had to have mine rebuilt locally.

This guy knew his stuff. Said he just pieced it together just by matching parts off the shelf. It's held up great! If for some reason you want to use them, but they won't let you ship it to them, you can ship it to me and I'll drop it off. If you're near any kind of metro area, you should be able to find an axle rebuilder though.

Southern Axle Exchange?
1010 Foster Avenue, Nashville, TN? - (615) 726-2953?

Default Rebuild it yourself...

I'm guessing the outer CV boot is torn. The boots are cheap ($6) and easy to replace (most of the work is getting the axle off the car), replacing a bad joint (clicks when turning the car) is a bit more expensive, about $100 for an OE Lobro brand one.

Default BTDT.

I did one with my brother on his Sirocco many years ago. Was a DIRTY job, and tricky to get that thing together. Reminded me of a rubics-cube!

Default just replaced the halfshaft on my 4K..........

ordered online from Advance auto - 74 plus a core charge - really easy to swap out make sure you get the right bit for your inner joint - later in the day a buddy told me of a local shop that has a 1 day service - swapping the whole shaft is the way to go I think, so check locally for clutch and joint shops

Default It's just real tricky on the 'special builds.'

IIRC, The outer is standard CGT, the outer is from the 80/90 series.
