Default Digital Instrument Cluster

I think I have asked this question before, did a search but did not find much response.

Is it possible to convert the 4KQ instrument cluster to the GT Digital?

Who has done this? Is it possible? What are the steps?

Default Anything's possible with enough time and $$.

I actaully researched this quite a bit about fifteen years ago, when I put an early 4000 dash into my Audi Fox. I saw the digital in the Bentley, and wanted to put it in. I bought a parts car that had one, but never went any further with the project. The wiring was going to be a chore. However, it was far from impossible. The tough thing these days is finding the digital inst cluster for less than $200. They seem to have problems (as do most 20+ year old electronics) and as they are somewhat rare, they bring big $$.

Default Yes, BTDT on my 4kq. Best if you have a donor car so you can pull...

Cluster, wiring harness, all the sensors (photo, speedo), get the computer switch and that should do it.
Not everyone likes it, I do.

Default I'm planning to do the conversion on my cgt this spring.

I've read the guide and I don't see any problems with the replacement. It's going to be an exiting mod!

I love the Internet! Whatever strange project your starting there's always someone that has don it before and made a homepage about it!

Default Just note that US analog clusters use different pinouts....

All our CIS-E equipped cars appear to have the fuel metering signal as well. The only gotcha seems to be slightly different ECUs are needed to get the correct enrichment signal. You need the part ending with a "D" vs. "C".
