Ya, more "tinkering" for me. I've always liked the controls on steering wheels, luckily for me, the Audi OEM wheel is soft.
My plan is to tap into the faceplate, and wire some micro momentary switches to control, Vol up / Vol down, Track fwd / Track back. (four spokes on the wheel, four controls) I plan on installing one control per spoke.
This is what I started with.

Back of faceplate removed.

Now you have to figure out which switch contols which button, just flip the face over and line up the buttonsto the switches on the circit board.

Really small solder points, use a steady hand and a fine tip.

Penny showing how small it is.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/80494/p5130110.jpg">
Wires attached.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/80494/p5140114.jpg">
Here it is back together. (one side done for now) I also had to cut a small notch in the side of the faceplate, right along the seam, so the wires could fit out the side.

In the next few days I'll finish the track selection and mount it in the car.

I like to look at things and see how I can improve it. When I was a kid, my friends used to call McGyver. LOL
So far I've only spent about 1 hr on it, if that. But thanks
