Do 8mm Plug wires really do anything?
Stock wires are 7mm. There are 8mm "High Performace" wires available for 5 cylinder Audis (and 4s, IIRC)...but do they actually do any good? Or is it just more expensive?

Don't bother.
Even if you are extensively modded, 7mm give you all the spark you'll need. Our ignition systems are pretty powerful, and work very well with all but the most extreme tuning levels(lots of nitrous, alcohol-burning, things like that). Where did you see these? I don't recall ever having seen 8mm wires for the 5-cyl.

8mm wires worked well on my modded 5ktq...
but then again it is cammed, chipped, bigger turbo, exhaust, 2pc manifold, etc...
Did it really give me any power gains? Couldn't say for sure...
Would I use them in my n/a 5000S? No.
