Default my acura has been a PITA lately... i'll offer it for slaughter

within a week- broken windshield, exhaust fell off, starter quit. i used to believe in audi gods, but now i know its just car karma. everyone do themselves a favor, leave one thing broken all the time and it will all work. on the 85 4kq, there was no radio... soon as i installed one (stock audi one even) stuff started to break and it was all over.

i'm going to switch the whole P/S strut and hub from the 85 to the 87 if i can this week and weld up a cheap exhaust to get me there; possibly do some quick bodywork too. when my inspection runs out at the end of this month that will be it- i think i will attempt to restore the 85 since it isn't as rusty, but who knows. someone may be getting a good deal on 2 used audis...

Default The ol slotted nut deal...

Once you remove the top strut nut, there is a slotted nut that must be removed in order to get the strut out. There is a special socket needed, or you can just make one with a dremel.

Default Let me bring 50 lbs of tools, I'll drive any Audi anywhere:)

Heck, that must have been my reasoning. Concord NH to Phoenix AZ in sight unseen '89 80q purchased for $500. Everyone thought I was nuts. I was. I did make it home. Jumped the FP relay in Cincinnati, that just made me get to KY proper before knowing the pump was really bad. Don't sweat it. In absolute worst case scenario, you can drive the RX7 to Carlisle. Defeats the purpose, but what a backup car! Do whatever you think the CGT needs, she'll love you for it...
