Default Driveshaft removal

I am trying to get the driveshaft out of my 86 4000 CS and two of the bolts going into the center diff are stripped. Are there any tricks to getting them out?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

They are hex, correct? Try hammering in a slightly larger triple square (12pt. allen).

Other than that - cutting wheel to cut off the bolt head, or vice grips, which probably won't work in that situation.

Good luck!

Default Heat it too...

Sounds like somebody tried to use a torx bit on a triple square bolt :-( you may be able to crack the nut with some heat (get it hot with a MAPP torch then spritz with water to get a quick chill should unfreeze the bolt). If you can get at it with vise grips may actually work then or try Q-orgs idea of pounding in the next size up. you may also try an extrator bit (Sears has them - kind of a reverse threat that may fit the inside of the bolt head.
