Drove the 4000 to work today thanks to Vasoline!

After many months of my engine rebuilding experience I finally got to drive my car to work today.
Once I got it started a couple weeks ago I noticed there wasn't any oil pressure so I turned it off. At that point I decided to end my suffering and tow the car to my uncles shop. He finally got a chance to look at the car after a few days.
The result: I apparently didn't prime the oil pump properly despite using a special oil pump primer drill bit to spin the oil pump. All he did was pull the oil pump off and pack the gears with Vasoline! The Vaseline is supposedly burned off at a certain temp so it won't harm the motor. It also helps create enough suction to get the oil pump to start pumping oil. At least that's how I understood it. That would've been a helpful nugget of info to know earlier but that's life.
I also had him adjust the clutch cable while he was at it. The cable is binding somewhere making the clutch pedal feel a little sticky so I'll have to replace that one of these days but it's not urgent.
He also had to tighten the bolts around the valve cover and some hose clamps that were leaking coolant.
My uncle was also nice enough to let me know the front strut mounts were very weak which is causing a shimmy under acceleration. I noticed this for the past few months of driving the car but figured it has something to do with the motor. I guess I'll have to start collecting some parts for a suspension rehab but that won't happen for a few months (maybe next spring).
Driving my Subaru for the past few months has spoiled me speed wise - how pathetic! - because the Audi feels positively slow. Of course, a stock 0-60 time of over 10 seconds isn't going to inspire but it'll get me to work in relative comfort and won't break my bank on gas.
The engine idles very quite and almost vibration free which is a nice change from the constant knocking it used to have. Hopefully the motor will loosen up with some more miles (only 100 at this point) and it'll feel a little more peppy. Of course, I've been shifting at around 3500 rpm and haven't floored it yet since the motor is still tight so that could be a reason it doesn't feel great. BTW, my uncle added some Lucas oil additive to help the new motor break in a little easier which I'll change out after about 1000 miles.
Lastly, my uncle adjusted the CO setting so the car is running properly. It was originally running lean when he got the car started so that should help my performance and mileage out even more.
Enjoy:
