I am wanting to soften up my ride a bit so I am getting rid of the 375/325 spring rate. I have been looking around online and all of the places that I have found just list the springs dimensions. So, with out having to go and jack the car up and start measuring, I am wondering if anyone out there knows the spring dimensions for the 87 4kq ie. the diameter and length. Also I know that this question has been brought up before but from my research I have not found a definitive answer. What is the stock spring rate for the 4000 Quattro? Thanks for any assistance.

A company called powerflex out of the europe. The only state side dealer is bimmerworld.com which is who I used to order them. Best way to order is to call the folks at bimmerworld.

but don't hold me to that. Derracuda on Motorgeek I *think* had the rates posted on his 20vt 4kq thread somewhere, might be worth a look.
You'd probably be OK moving the rears to the front and then getting softer rears as well.
As for measurements, if it's a GC kit, should be a 2.5" ID spring and then probably 10" long? You'd either have a 10" or 8" rear spring.

I got the kit, which includes just the sleeves and the springs, from mpactmotorsports.com. They were the cheapest ground control kit I could find at the time, ~$340. If you are mechanically inclined and can weld or know someone that welds on the side then this would be the most inexpensive route. Any adjustable coil over kit that you buy, unless you go with 2bennett, will require you to cut the spring perch off of the strut assemblies then weld on the sleeve perch that comes with the kit. After that its just putting everything back together. All said I came in under $500 to convert over to an adjustable coil over kit, not including all the other parts that should be replaced at the time like new struts, mounts, and bushings.
