Fix or Fix-A-Flat?

it's defenitly worth doing it yourself. you can take it in, but you can do it faster than it probably takes to drive somewhere o have it done. a couple helpful hints:
before putting the plug in dip it in contact glue or (what i use) gasket glue. it makes sure it's sealed.
don't push it in too far, you'll know.
bur the ends down, as far as they want to burn. make sure it get's even with the tread. this really makes sure things are sealed and trims it to the right level. some places do this, some don't, but i do recommened it.
it's just so easy to do. consider put one in the glove compartment of all of you cars.
with a motorcycle tire, if oyu do it, think of it as a way to get you home only. keep you speed down and take corners carefully. a motorcycle tire is designed so the whole tread pattern is used when turning and handling the bike. having that plug changes everything. once you get to a shop have them remove the plug and put a patch in (patch goes on the inside and doesn't effect the outside of the tie to no handling issues).
