Default Folks, a moment of silence please....

.... for my Audi's odometer has stopped turning
.
.
.
.
Thank You.

Now how the heck does this stupid thing come apart so I can fix it? I reset the trip computer and that was the end. Should I just send it to Palo Alto Speedometer or something? The gear likely slipped, I hoped to at least get 100k out of it.

It's an easy fix. What can't you get out?

Default IS this how to a good reference for pictures...

A quick search didn't yield any Audi specific examples. Looks like the Scirocco has a mechanical VDO speedometer like hte early Audis do.

http://www.garageprosoftware.com/scirocco/tech_odometer.htm</a

Default That's not a moment of silence event...

..now you're one of the "cool guys". Everyone's ODO breaks. Its just a question of "when?"

Default Looks similar

But there is no need to take the faceplate off. I just removed the gauges from the cluster surround itself and pushed the gear back in, eliminated the O2 counting gear, and made a metal piece that I epoxied in place so the gear would not walk out anymore.

What was your fix? Did you slide a metal clip in to hold the slipping gear? I never had an issue

Default The nickle fix?

It might work for me, it stopped dead at 199 turning to 200 so I'm guessing the OXS counter gear is causing part of the problem.

I tried multiple things like a paper clip to keep the gear from popping out
