Default FOUND the problem and why I broke down......

Rust in the Gas tank........
car was fine when I bought it, but fuel pump made noise
then I added injector cleaner and that loosened up the rust so clogged lines

so took the tank out and have rinsed it out like 10 times and got most the rust out
can't believe the size of some of the **** that came out

so in a day or 2 we will see how she runs

Default Had similar issue on my old '79 5KS

Someone siphoned gas out of my tank, and it appears they used a stick or something to hold the flap open. Pieces of it ended up in my tank and killed the pump pretty quickly.

When I replaced the pump, I added an inline filter before the pump to make sure it never happened again. Couple of $$$ at the parts store, cheap peace of mind - much cheaper than a new pump!
