Default Front Core Support replacement

Hey I was wondering if any of you had ever replaced a core support because my Audi has been in a minor collision(no structural damage) when i bought it and mine is a little tweaked. I tried bending it back as best as I can, but its not perfect. The local junkyard has a car the same color as mine with the front support intact, I just have to remove it myself. What I kneed to know is the best way to remove it because it is spot welded on in some places. I know its kind of a big project but I would apprecaite any help you can give. Thanks

Default Re: Front Core Support replacement

You'll have to have it cut out in excess of the factory seams. Then, you'll have to cut all the spot welds on the panel and remove the excess. Then, you'll have to cut all the spot welds on your damaged one to remove it.
Weld in the new panel and paint the welds (probably easier to paint the whole thing, really). They make special spot weld cutters for drills.
This is really not a job for a beginner...I'd recommend you have a shop replace it for you, or repair what you have (may be much cheaper to fix it).
