Default Fuel system issue?

I have a 1985 4000s Quattro, the fuel pump appears to be working correctly, and I replaced the fuel filter between the tank and the pump and it was dirty, the issue I am having is that when I go to accelerate the engine is sputtering and won't rev past 3k rpm. I'm wondering what sort of troubleshooting may need to be done or if anyone more familiar wiht the vehicle may be able to help.

Default

check for vacuum leaks in all the rubber vac lines in the engine bay.

it could also be that you have a 4 cyl. fuel pump relay.

When was the coolant temp. sensor and O2 sensor last replaced as well?
