Most of the new Audi owners probably think my car is an old Lexus or something with the rings stuck on it. I don't bother with them. I used to wave when I drove the 1980 5k, but the (first gen) A4 crowd seemed to appear as though my wave was a prelude to a carjacking, so I stopped.
I've posted before about seeing some Audi guys park and get out to look at my car - that's weird to see from my office window. The most enthusiastic wave I've gotten recently was from a guy with a 5ktq just like mine (or...the way it used to look before I "Mongrelized" it) he was driving the other way as I exited the highway and stuck his entire arm (and nearly his head) out of the window to wave. I've seen him on the highway subsequently - he's got "*** JDM" in vinyl letters over the trunk light bar - very funny.
Cheers!

I did have a dude in a corrado w/ TDI swap pull up next to me and tell me how nice and clean the 'ol girl looked! That was pretty cool... but that's cuz he was 5 ft away... any closer and he'd start noticing the peeling clear, etc :-P
