Alright, so we got the brake proportioning valve in, that was easy. Gonna wait til Scott gets home and hopefully we can bleed everything. If this doesnt cure the pedal feel then I have a sneaky suspicion that the brake master may need replacing too, its really nasty.

Now onto the slave cylinder question. I checked out the car when it was on the ground and up in the air. Easier to get at from the top. I took note of the pin that was holing the slave in and am very perplexed. The pin or whatever is in there is sticking out the passenger side and has a weird loop on the drivers side. I do not see where it ends, its really weird. It is nothing like the pin that is in my car back home, so the punch that I brought is useless. Any information on what this thing is and how to get it out? Ive only RR'ed the slave with the engine out of the car. I assume removing the passenger side wheel and maybe pushing the pin back into the trans housing is the way to go? (assuming we attempt to do this). I dont see a good place to drive he pin back into the housing.
Thoughts here? Im lost. That and the fact that Petunia is filthy makes things extra fun .

Get a whole bunch of socket extensions, throw on the closest socket that fits your 3/16" drift, if loose, wrap it with duct tape or teflon tape and jam it into the socket. Go in through the pass side wheel well through the tierod hole. Get some good lighting, ready, aim, punch! That spring you see on the driver's side is likely the "retaining clip" It should wrap around the hose to the slave cylinder. It pops right out, most go missing. Looks like Morgan's clutch master is a rusty lump just like mine, but easy R&amp;R.

About that prop valve, what did it take to break the flare nuts off? I plan on soaking down the area with brake cleaner before trying to loosen them with flare nut wrenches. As for the mushy pedal, bleed first and then see if its still mush. Plus, it looks like those washers that Frank was talking about are weeping judging by the picture (unless that was brake cleaner).

Has the roll pin been replaced with a split pin?

I can reach across the top of the transmission and feel part of a small pin on the passenger side, but its pretty thin in diameter.
How does that pin pop out?

For the brake prop valve it was pretty easy. Soaked the nuts in penetrating oil for a bit then broke them loose with flare wrenches. Now the bottom 2 bolts that hold the valve to the bracket were a PAIN. We had to get the car on the lift and I had to use many extensions and tons of force just to break them loose. After that it was easy replacing the thing.

Very odd:

Is the pin that you are feeling really big enough to keep the slave from coming out?

Or... Is it a 'spring' kind of thing, going through the hollow roll pin?

Is the curly part that you are feeling 'springy', or solid?

I'm wondering if what you can see in just throwing you on a false scent, and can just be pulled/bent/mangled out of the way, only to find the normal (hollow) roll pin still in the transmission?

It looks like we can mangle the pin with a screwdriver to get it out of the way. Then we can get in there with the punch and hammer to drive the pin out. At least thats what I hope is going to happen.

Thoughts on the new slave Morgan got (picture in above post)?

PS. You should see the size of the funnel we got this year, its huge!!
