Regarding the V8, though, BMW did make a few V8 M3s along with their latest ALMS car. Other than that, all M3s have been either an I4(E30) or I6(all subsequent models). Turbos are easy enough to upgrade, though, and I don't really think the problem was as large on the whole as it seems here on an enthusiast website. But, regardless, the B6 is a NICE car. Too bad they had to jack the price up by $20k over the B5.

Base MSRP: $45,650
Price as configured: $50,665
This is with all the options minus premium sound ($1700). So at most the car is roughly $53,000 and sure the stealerships will inflate that a little, but I couldnt see it being more than $55,000 (with ALL the options) for a brand spankin new one.
Mine would be about $52,000. That's only a 10k hike from the last body style which i priced at $42,000 a while back.

Either way, it's too expensive for me. $43k for a B5 and $63k for a B6 were posted here, so that's what I went by. I've also heard $58 is a popular price for the B6.
