cost me 2 grand in total. that was with the labor, clutch assembly, new slave cylinder, header pipe and front end bushings. yes, the last 2 had nothing to do with the clutch at all but they needed replacing. it took them 14 hours to change the clutch. i guess i wouldve tried it myself if i had the tools and the time but i have neither so there it is. just thought id throw something out there for you to read when youre bored

i would of threw in new tranny mounts for a price of 2 grand. that is insane, book time is 8 hrs, if you've never done a quattro clutch and you have hand tools it takes me 10 hours without a lift. i'm sure i could cut a few off with one and i usually don't use a transmission jack. this would save an hour as well.
14 hours is just too long, seems you are happy though, that's all that matters.
my clutch job cost me $250 plus a day of my time
and that include all clutch parts and master/slave and transmission mounts.
get a bentley it will save you money.
HTH!

It took me almost 10 hours to do the clutch and slave cylinder on my car, and that was with a lift. 14 hours isnt unbelievable for all the work that was done considering the problems that you can run into.

the bushings took 4 hours and the header pipe had to be switched as well, not to mention my mechanic is a few weeks out of knee surgery. he wants me to bring it in for a new clutch master cylinder too but i found one for 70 bucks and it looks easy enough, anything i should know before i go changing that?

The clutch master can be a PITA! Check to make sure your firewall where it bolts up at is not cracked!
Bleeding the system can become a real PITA as well. Sometimes they dont like to bleed correctly.
