Default Help with torque specs???????

I don't have tools # 2084 and 2079 and the Bentley states that when tightening the drive belt sprocket to the crank: "Tightening torque 350 Nm (252 ft lb)applies ONLY when extension tool 2079 is used in alignment with torque wrench."

Sooooo my question is what is the torque spec without the tools. I cant find it anywhere in the book. Or, does anyone know where I can get the tools????

Thanks guys.

Default From Torque Setting Table: Harmonic Damper bolt =332 ft lb,

harmonic balancer (crankshaft pulley) bolt =332 ft lb, with the following note #4:

"The value given here for the harmonic balancer (crankshaft pulley) bolt is the true value at the bolt. Other values apply if Audi's #2079 service tool is used. Alternative techniques have been documented by Audi - the 10/93 Technical Service Bulletin for the ABY and AAN engines specifies 150Nm + 180°. The crankshaft should be locked with Audi's #2084 service tool - this can be bought from any dealership.

Under no circumstances should the transmission (gears/brake) be used to hold the crank stationary. "

However, in *my* reality, that 332 ft/lb = Turn up the airgun to full, and let it sit for a while, pounding away..!

(Table is From Phil Paynes VERY interesting site.. <a href="http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quattro/" target="_top">Audi ur-quattro Technical Information</a> )<ul><li><a href="http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quattro/torque.html">I5 Torque Setting Table....</a></li></ul>

Default Seems like a lot o torque...................

didn't feel like 300 or 500 ft lb when I removed it. I don't even think I have a torque wrench that will work that high. I may have to buy the stupid part for $180.00. Damn Audi got me again LOL.

Default See if somebody has the tools to borrow....

or make your own torque wrench with simple math. Get a breaker bar with a big pipe extension or use a jack against the breaker bar. Chances are it will be tight enough if you go the jack route. Others have actually bent their breaker bars tightening that bolt!
