Default Hmm, cold white stuff is all over the place. a quick question

YEAH! ITS SNOWING we got like 2 good inches on the ground out here in sunriver oregon. the roads are like a hockey rink! totaly slick... i almost lost it 3 time on my way to school today, 2 of them i went in sholder of some tight turns in the dirt. luckly nothing was hit and no damage was done.

I got one question though, when i have my quattro system engaged on the # 1 and lose traction (such as sliding under brakeing/ down shifting somtimes i here this metalic tund/thunk from the rear, what could this be?

Later

Default Not sure about the Q system grinding, but here's a little caution

Careful skidding around when there is only a few inches of snow on the ground.... One second you'll be skidding, the next you'll hit a spot that's not so slippery and your tires will grab. This could break parts under your car (that are not meant to withstand sideways impacts) or in extreme cases you could flip the car! So, have your fun, but take it easy!

Oh man, i was not trying to skid... it was totaly unintentional. even a few inches here still covers all the roads with ice/compact snow.it was cool today to, the icicles formed sidways on my fenders.
i would never treat my 4k like that, thats what my bros k4 is for

Default Possible axle cavatation, your drivetrain was built not to slip so...

...as the weight shifts and momentum stays on it's course the diffs are under a very large load. If you think your diffs are bad, next time your out in the white stuff lock both diffs up and see what happens. Hell I never lock my diffs up anyway, the car works great in the standard mode. I locked my 5kqt's diffs up once last winter just to see if they would work. Well maybe twice, there was that night when we got 5"'s of snow and I decided to have some fun...
