Hello all....How can I go about relaying my headlight switch on my 4000? I had to bite the bullet and change my original 2 weeks ago,but do not want to burn the new one. I know years ago a guy from Germany was making and offering them, but I have had no luck finding or contacting anyone.
Is there a site where I can buy the kit wired so I do not have to go behind the dash. (meaning hook into the fuse box instead of cuttting and splicing),, ?
Any suggestions?

I don't know of a kit, but honestly it's really simple. The five-pin relays are easy to get on eBay with sockets and wires included. The wiring is easy:

Allegedly, what burns out the switch isn't the headlights but actually the parking lights, so you could do that at the same time:

the above diagram assumes a double-87 relay, which are harder to find (a relay with 87 and 87a will NOT work, as only one contact will be closed at any given time), so just wire two relays similar to the way you would do the headlights otherwise.
Where to put the relays is up to you. Some people manage to fit them behind the instrument cluster, but anywhere you have a flat area will work.

THANK YOU so much for that info regarding the upgrade...
I took it one step further trying to located that particular relay and I found a site that was selling everything wiring and relay related.
The prices are so-so compared to going to your local auto store, but they had the bosch relay with the dual 87 connector...
The link to the page is as follows, I paid $7.99 for the relay and $7.00 for the wiring (figured it was just easier this way, since the wiring was already connected to the socket)
I hope this helps , and thanks again for the info!!!....Paul
