How hard is rear caliper overhaul?

got one caliper that sticks sometimes, and other times theres no problems.
It's not the handbrake, so assume it must be the piston itself. Cleaned and lubed the carrier guides which seemed to help for a while.
Just wondering if it's the effort worth when you can get an overhauled kit.
Dont want to be saving pennyes and then risk wrecking something and using alot of hours

i always rebuild the carrier when i do my brakes, make sure they aren't airlocked. my rear piston kept sticking, so i pulled the rubber boot back and shot in some lube with a syringe, ran it in and out a few times, and re-installed. i had intended on a total rebuild like you're thinking, but it continued to work. you should be able to find a caliper seal kit for a new o ring and use a brake hone to clean up any pits - but the 4KQ's ebrake mechanism can stick inside the caliper. If you rebuild the seal, spend some time cleaning and lubing up the ebrake mechanism too.
