How much is reasonable to install sway bar?
I'm in the3 process of tracking down a 29mm front sway bar from a 1987 4Kq. From what I was told, 87 was the only year of the 29mm bar, the others were 27mm. First can anybody confirm this? What, if any, parts sould be replaced on the bar or car at the time of install? How many hours of labor would be considered reasonable for an install? Or is this something a non-mechanical type can do themselves. My level of mechanical ability is limited to basic stereo/speaker installs, changing plugs, wires, ect...

you can do it yourself with one or two wrenches
and usually don't need to get the car off the ground. Look at the ETKA pictures. simple.
On the street bars, they have rubber bushings. These wear out and they're only a few bucks each from Audi (my friends 87 couple broke a few a month ago). replace all the rubber bushings during service. Also there are some vertical linkages on the ends of the bar. Make sure these are not damaged in any way. They can and often break since they're thinner than the sway bar itself.

I think it takes two wrenches/sockets. One for the end links (10mm?) and one for the center brackets (13mm deep).
Ten minutes for me, half hour for someone who's never done it, an hour if you have no skills whatsover.
