I picked up a pretty good looking power antenna from an 87 5000 at the junkyard today for $12. I'm not really sure how to wire it up though, there are 2 wires coming out of the unit, a white one and a red/blue one. I think the ground is through the mount. There is a power antenna lead on my deck but I think that is just a relay lead?
Do I need to get a relay to wire between the deck lead and some constant power?
How does the motor know when the mast is raised/lowered is there an internal switch or does the relay do this?
Thanks everyone!

a pos and negative.. and then there is the connection for the antenna signal (fatter cable from the back of the head unit). The antenna mast knows when to go up and down when it receives a signal from the HU. When the HU is turned on, it sends a signal and powers it up and vice versa.

I already had a turn on lead hooked from the deck to the antenna so I just need to run a +12v from somewhere back to the antenna and then run a wire to ground from the antenna.
The antenna has the relays built in so when there is a turn on+ and +12v the antenna goes up, when there is no turn on+ the +12v switches to move the antenna down.
I still get crappy radio reception though!?
maybe a new antenna lead?
