Default ..I did it today.

Today, just about an hour ago i carefully took off the side door plastic panels. Of course there is ugly glue and dirt, but i see through that. I see a beautiful car when im done. Not saying that the coupe isnt beautiful with the plastic. But without the plastic, it does look alot more clean (even with the glue) After im done with the doors im hoping to sand down the bumpers(Front and Rear) then give the whole car a nice new spray! It should look nice. Ill post pics when this masterpiece is completed.

Congrats! No telling what you could've found behind those trim pieces. You're brave!

Default I pulled off some of that trim at a junkyard...

just out of curiosity to see how well it would work, and was surprised by how little the paint was faded or peeled.

Default Great Find!

Actually i was very suprised, It didnt peel off any paint. And there is the nice semi fresh paint under it! heh There is untouched paint that looks almost new. Oh and does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the glue? i have been heating it up with a heat gun then scraping it off. But it takes so long!!!!

Default I'd try...

...some chemicals. Let the chemical do the work, not yhour arms. Maybe some Goo-gone or even Acetone.

Maybe even a bit of rubbing alcohol. You dont want to use anything too abrasive or too powerful, it could take some of the paint off as well.

Post pics when done. This winter I am sanding down some rough spots on my Coupe and removing whats left of the plastic mouldings!

Default Use an eraser wheel

That's what I'm using on the 4kq I'm repainting. They're available at auto paint shops, or collision supply places. Looks like an orange or taupe eraser wheel on a mandrel. You can put them on a good drill, or something similar. They work great.

They're also good for removing the glue under the spoiler, pinstripes, and the stone guards in front of the rear wheel wells.

Good Luck!
