Idling Problem

My car is a1985 Audi 4000 S with the 1.8l 4 cylinder. It has appx 114,000 miles. I have replaced the cap, rotor, air filter, plugs, and the top and bottom injector o-rings. The problem is that after it starts which it does fine, as it warms up it starts to idle irractic. It revs up then dies almost if someone shut off the key, BUT it catches itself and doesn't stall, it just keeps doing this. I took off the air intake and cleaned the throttle body and the components of the air box, I did not take these apart just cleaned them with carb spray. As did not want to mess with adjustments.I also checked the compression it is right around 150 in all cylinders., I have cheked for vacuum leaks and replaced the IAC rubber piece, but found no other leaks I can see, while apart I cleaned the IAC with carb cleaner as well. Nothing I do makes it better or worse. I bought the car with this problem, I can't check the timing cause it jumps around idleing so much, but when I drove the car it seemed to run great EXCEPT for when idleing. Any help appreciated
