On my 86 4kq one of the bulbs that illuminates the dash had been inoperable, as well as the trip computer bulb(s). Last night both instrument panel bulbs went out, and the trip computer bulb(s) came on. Today I replaced both instrument cluster bulbs, and now the trip computer bulb(s) dont illuminate. Any idea whats going on here? Could it be as simple as just having to replace the bulbs behind the trip computer?

It just makes more sense to, so you don't go pulling everything apart again when you put it back and another one goes bad. Kinda like replacing the clutch if you remove the trans; you don't always really have to, but it saves some time down the road.

But the trip computer display worked this morning fine when it was in the garage. Replacing the 2 instrument panel bulbs was cake, took me 15 mins tops. I didnt know where or if there were actually any bulbs involved with the trip computer part until I pulled out the Bentley, oh well.
Thanks

I only took the upper dash part off to get to the cluster, i didnt remove the cluster or the surround with all of the other switches. It was just odd that the lights came on when the instrument panel lights went out. Oh well, I'll change those trip computer bulbs next weekend.
Thanks for the help!
