Default mounting additional lights, 85 and newer 4000kq ???S

Has anyone found a good solution for mounting additional lights, for street use, on the 85 and newer 4000kq?

The previous owner of my wife's 87 4000kq placed sport lamps in the grill.
[they take up most of the grill and seem to cause slight over heating, due to blocking air to the radiator on one side, so I know this doesn't work!]

Now we live were there is often fog, and need to add good ajustable fog lights that won't get mangled in the supermarket parking lot.
Fortunately we don't need the after market driving lights.

I know that once upon a time,
there fog lights available to fit in the bumper.

Is there new old stock?
Or an after market solution?
Or used?

Or should I really use the headlights/grill from a 84 and use two H4 fogs instead of high beams?
[my last posting]

Many Thanks
David

The dealer offered fog lights that mounted in the lower grill piece in the bumper skin are not worth squat when it comes to seeing the road. I am sure you could find a modern version of light and modify the lower grill to accept it but in all honesty the single bulb e code H4 unit will out perform any after market fog light you try mounting in the bumper. This is assuming you are not getting into a major mod job and trying to mount major off road / rally type lighting. The single bulb e code lights have a very level low beam cut off pattern that in fog does not throw the light back at you. Run Osram Silverstar (not Sylvainia) 100/80 bulbs and buils a good 12ga harness with 2 relays. You will be happy. I've run the sigle bulb units on my QSW along with nice Bosch Pilot fogs and the only real advantage there was being able to aim the fogs (100 watt) off to the sides but even in the real foggy situations the low beam e codes were always on even though the fogs were wired to run independent of the headlights. Expect to pay $150-$250 used and around $400 new for these lights. Drop about $50 into buidling a good wiring harness and I would stay away from a store bought one. HTH
