My car consumes about 1quart oil/1000 miles
From what I can tell there are no outstanding leaks.
- When I park somewhere for a period of time there is never more than maybe a small drip of oil or two if that.
- While driving I don't notice any smoke from the exhaust even under hard acceleration (if that's possible in a 4k).
- The area around the exhaust on the bumper is not oily.
- The only thing I notice is that when I start the car there is a faint puff of smoke that is expelled from the exhuast. It only happens for maybe a second or two then the exhaust seems fine.
Any ideas as to where all this oil is going? I'm pretty sure that the spec for oil consumption is probably high according to Audi but this seems excessive.

I have the same problem, I add about a quart and a half between oil changes, which I try to do every 2500 miles, and there is never more then a few drips if the car has been sitting awhile.

Re: Bad valve stem seals
Not with valve stem seals. When they are worn they leak oil down into the combustion chamber when your engine is shut off. Hence, when you start the car a puff of oil comes out which is the oil burning off.
