basicaly when engine is running on idle you can hear a rattle from back of engine , if you push the clutch pedal down to floor the rattle stops .
i took the car to the garage and a mechanic told me it is the release bearing so i decided to have that done and also the clutch which the garage has done today . i drove the car home and stuck my head near driver side wheel , it still rattles although not as loud but if i drop the revs down to about 700rpm then its quite loud , again i push clutch down and the rattle sound stops .
any ideas anyone ???

There are *some* clutches that rattle when in meutral, and have no load on the clutch.
The springs in the clutch disk are unloaded, and so they rattle. (I think that there was a bulliten on that too??)
If that IS your problem, you get it when idling, the transmission is in gear, and the clutch is engaged. A very 'metallic rattle' kind of sound, as the center of the clutch disk bounces around on it's four 'driveline shock absorbsion' springs.
I find it's sepecially noticable if you are near a wall (Like at a drive through), as the noise is reflected back to the car.
Put in the clutch, and it goes away as the clutch disk stops turning. Same if you put in in gear, with the clutch in. Gearbox then stops the clutch from turning.
It used to really bother me, but it's been that way for years, even after I changed clutches.
Anyone else ever had or heard of this problem?
(Usually a bad release bearing makes MORE noise when you press on the clutch pedal..!)

Is vibration in the clutch pedal only attributed to a bad throw out bearing? What can I do to fix...
