I read a while back that a poor ground may trigger the oil pressure light to flash. I installed a new battery and haven't heard from the buzzer yet. Could a low enough battery cause this? The battery was dead as a doornail. It took 15 min to jump it....cranking away. On the good side...I picked up my refurb'd head today....WOW...how awesome. This weekend it'll go on. All this without one cig too!

oil pressure switching in our cars is done by transistors and its voltage sensitive. So dead and near dead battery even charging will drop the voltage. You also probably ended up making a better ground contact when you put in the new battery,, again higher voltage.
