Default oil weights for the 5cyl

Tell me if this sounds right....
I was told by someone who is very sure of himself that my 4000 csq should be running straight 30 weight oil in the winter and 40 in the summer instead of multi-grade oils to stop the lifters from ticking.
anybody have any opinions?

Default LOL

Yeah right.
I've tried about every oil there is out there. Right now it's got 20-50 in it, which seems to work the best. Synthetic was a colossal waste of money.
Mine still tick somewhat, but not as bad as with 10-40 or the syn. (NEW lifters!) You can try straight weight oil but it's pretty old school; I doubt it makes a diff. And if you live in cold climate, trying to start a car with straight 30w in the winter will be a real challenge.

Default oil

the first number represents the oil thickness when cold, the last represents the oil thickness when hot.

There are more sophisticated terms, but that is the general idea.

Default 20W-50 for the 5 bangers. 5W-50 castrol syntec if your racing.

The key is 50 weight on the hot end.
