Default OK so my buddy did the "run your car on water" thing.....

And it works! You may have seen it all over the internet. Well my buddy got it and they put it in today. They did a thirty min drive test and it produced enough hydrogen to give an 8MPH increase on the first try. The only problem is that it looks like a 5yr olds science project with pickle jars and baking soda. Pretty cool though.

Default Doh! sorry.... 8 more MPG

I will try to post the plans. He did it on a non EFI car. It can be done with EFI but I haven't seen the parts for that one yet. But to get 8 more MPG on an older car the first time out was cool. The only maint. on it is you have to replace the baking soda and water mix every month. Also the more jars you use then the more hydrogen can be produced.

Default I'm very interested in this, please post all you can on this!

Does hydrogen cause higher temps in the engine?

Default I still think that violates the laws of thermodynamics and conservation of energy.

More energy in the form of electricity has to go into the water to create hydrogen gas which then is burned in a very inefficient internal combustion engine, the internal combustion engine then needs to drive an alternator to regenerate that electricity. With friction loses the net is a loss.

It is possible to pull energy from a wall plug and store up hydrogen gas yielding better mileage until the hydrogen is consumed, but that is storing energy taken from another power source.

Default Well, yeah, however can't the same be said for most forms of energy?

gotta dig the coal, or
build the dam, or
build the rig to pump the oil, then put onboard the tanker, and bend over to big oil companies/OPEC.

Perhaps the point of view is to bypass big oil a bit, and do something to decrease the effect on the enviroment? Maybe something about not bending over to Big Oil as well?

All the above is just IMHO.

Default Here.... check out the site. It is pretty cool....

It is actually a "hybrid" gas HHO.<ul><li><a href="http://www.runyourcarwithwater.com/?hop=beer1981">Run your car on water!</a></li></ul>

Default Ditto, its snake oil....

You are using quite a bit more energy to create the hydrogen then you burn. A net loss, might as well not bother.

Default I think that James is referring to a "perpetual motion machine", Ray...

It takes energy to do everything - pumping oil out of the ground/transporting/refining it certainly - but there is gobs more energy in the end product than what was put in (no, I can't quantify "gobs".....but I'm sure it's a prime number....maybe). I was listening to Michael Feldman's Whad'ya Know on the way back from Carlisle - one of their trivia questions was "If a car was as efficient as a Black Hole in converting energy, how far could you drive on a gallon of gasoline?" The answer was one billion miles.
Objects at rest will stay at rest, certainly, but objects in motion do not stay in motion because of....friction. You might as well add sticking a windmill out the window and generate the electricity to make the hydrogen gas. It's basically a super-complicated device to remove money from wallets.
Cheers!
