Default Operation "non-disclosure" canceled!

So, less than 24 hours from take off (for me), and three crews with bags in hand, and jets on the runway warmed up and ready for take-off, they canceled the AWACS portion of the upcoming operation.

Classic case of government overspending, poor leadership, and leaning so far forward, you fall over. Case in point:

-we spend several millions of $ on a rehearsal by flying to Gander, New Foundland...

-we ask for more, and more and more money until the AWACS contingent swells to three times the size of the original plans

-we **** off allied nations by demanding (not asking) things from them

-Leadership fails to make decisions, instead, they go, "well... maybe... i don't know...." and constantly switch between yes, no, yes, no, yes no

So, I could have picked up my Quattro as planned. But now, I have eaten a non-refundable plane ticket, worked 12-14 hour days since Jan 25th, worked weekends, missed the superbowl, for squat.

At least I got new green suede flight boots out of it and some humorous pictures.

Default After I get my "suicide prevention breifing".....

If only I knew.....

If I had my way, tomorrow. I walked into my commander's office after the announcement, and said, "I'm taking two weeks off. I've had it, and I need to rest after all the AWACS shenanigans going on lately". He said he would look into it.

This isn't the only incident highlighting problems in the AWACS career field. We just had a major leadership turnover, and while the General in charge, I would do anything for, some of the others... well lets say if they had to lead me into combat again, I have serious reservations.

that will hold vehicles, get the idea. just borrow 1 for the day. go pick the car up in it, and bring it back. who's gonna know. besides as a tax paying citizen, i give you permission to use one of those plaens our millions of tax dollars go to. ; )

Default Non-Refundable Ticket - try a letter with copy of orders?

Sometimes customer service at airlines can bend their rules a bit and get you a refund or let you use your tickets at a later date. You may want to try a letter with a copy of your orders (sanitize them if necessary) explaining the situation. They may be happy to support our "troops in the field" under your circumstances.
