Default This is what i got...

i got a pacesetter header with NO oxygen sensor placement anywhere, my engine is a 1 wire 02 sensor plug, now if i went to 3 wire would that mean a new computer for the 02?

i was looking for a 3 wire because a couple threads up someone told me to use that, im just going to have to tap a hole into one of the cyl exhaust tubes and put the o2 sensor there.

Default You dont want it too close because the engine heat will melt the O2!

How many inches is the O2 away from the last exhaust port? Measure it, then that's as close as you want to get. Too far and it takes too long to heat up.

Default That's what I said

The one wire will work, BUT you may have an erratic idle in colder weather and/or when the engine is cold.
The 3 wire will work just fine with your stock computer. The other two wires are only to manage the heating element.
Plain Bosch generic 3 wire sensor should run about $75 I think.

Clown, you don't have to tap anything if you get the pre-threaded 02 'bung' that you can weld onto the pipe wherever you want.

Default I looked all over the place for a bung around here, and couldn't find one.

Ken was talking about threading a new hole or welding on a nut, which isn't possible, O2 sensors have a special thread that only O2 sensors have, for whatever reason. I'll check the local race shops, and see what I can see.

Default Three wire versions.....

It was my understanding that the extra 2 wires are for the built-in heating element in the O2 sensor. This allows the O2 sensor to heat up quicker during warmup so that the computer can go into closed-loop mode much faster, and thus make the car run in rich/warmup mode for less time.

Default Look harder :)

My local speed/machine shop had a couple hanging on the wall in a blister pack. I'm pretty sure it was made by Hooker Headers, but may have been Moroso.
