This past weekend I got around to replacing some leaking coolant hoses and the air filter, cleaned the intake boot, throttle body, and ISV valve and decided to install the driving lights I bought and wired several months ago.
For now, upgrading to the eurobeams is not in my budget so the next best thing was some Hella 550 driving lights for about $60.
At first I was planning on some elaborate light brackets but eventually decided that was going to be a PITA. I don't have easy access to either a chop saw or welder so that was that.
After checking the front of the car I decided to just drill up through the inner bumper beam for a mounting point. First, I pulled off the plastic on either side of the lower front grill to gain access for drilling. Then I removed the turn signals and reflectors front bumper. Once I decided on decent location I just started drilling. After breaking a few smaller drillbits in the cold weather I finally had my two mounting holes. The rest was easy.
As far as the wiring goes, I wired the lights with the appropriate relay and a switch to allow them only to go on with high beams.
My lights now work great except with low beams, they still suck.

>It give it that "rally car" look that many people aim for.
heh, don't even ask about my other car if you think those are big lights![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Anyhow, I have no idea how they compare with the H1/H4's since I've never seen them. Compared to the stock crap they're great though!

Driving lights are mounted on top of the bumper, fogs on the bottom. The beam pattern of the drivers is designed to be used from a high point on the car. If you get any snow they will get ripped off of there too. Just a thought.

They're dull, and yellow. Plus, I want to have the driving lights on in the daytime, personal opinion tells me it looks badass. But, until I can scrape together the $600+ for 'em, I might go the road of the Noble Doble.

Well, its not that bad. What happened to red, its classic, and matches the dash lights. Heres a tip for those who dont use, or have working AC. Those small red switches that normally come with fog lights, with very little trimming, fit nicely where the AC switch goes. Once again, if I only had a camera, I would show you guys.
