Default Possible ISV problem?

Hey guys...

I wanted to get your opinion before pulling out the ISV to clean it.

Here's the deal: When coming to a stop, my 4kq's rpm will decrease gradually until about 1200 and will then very quickly dip to about 500. Usually, it recovers and goes back to 1000, but recently, the car has actually stalled. It doesn't happen if I'm sitting still and rev the engine, but the dip in rpm happens almost every time while driving (but has only stalled a few times). When it recovers to 1000, the idle is actually very stable, and not the erratic revving like a typical shot/dirty ISV.

Does this sound like a dirty ISV or should I be looking somewhere else...possibly the vacuum hoses?

Thanks!

Can't hurt to clean the ISV AND check for vacuum leaks.

Default Your intake boot is cracked

The exact same thing happened to me. It's like a enormous vac leak. When you stop, the motor shifts allowing the boot to flex, and the crack to widen, gulping more air and causing the stall. This happened to me a few times on freeway off ramps...that's when i checked it out.

Is the intake boot replacement a pig to do?
