Default power mirror switch removal / repair

Can someone confirm no removal of armrest is needed to remove switch. Just pry it out of armrest, unplug, take apart, clean and replace?

Default Well, you sorta gotta remove the armrest

Heres what I do. I get a small screwdriver and pry the switch out of the armrest and unplug it. You may have to undo the 2 bottom screws though, for the armrest.

Default not necessary, but...

but it makes removal easier and cleaner. I'd hate to scar up the plastic with a screwdriver. I just loosen the two philips screws that hold it on and push the mirror switch up and out from inside the armrest.

Default Removed the switch, cleaned, not working...what next

The power mirror switch popped out easily and came apart no problem. Used contact cleaner to clean things up and reinstalled. Still no power mirrors. Is it worth trying to buy a replacement switch assuming that it is the switch that is broken?

I was thinking about the wires in the door but the windows and locks work fine so could I presume the wires would be okay?

Thanks for the help.

Check the fuse, if I remember correctly it's seperate from p/w and locks...and all power accesories use different wiring harness plugs, so check those. Just the same, it could very well be the switch, even after cleaning. Maybe try shorting out some of the terminals in the plug and see if the mirrors respond. If they do, it's time for a new switch.

Default Double check the wires in the door.

Just because the locks work doesn't mean the mirror wires aren't broken.

As for cleaning them, did you just use contact cleaner? Or did you lightly sand as well? Mine took a lot of sanding to clean all the black crud off. Also don't forget to clean under the switch for selecting which side to control.
