Default Problems.... LONG

Hi all.

Just had my boge shocks and springs fitted today. The rear end is slammed while the front end is higher than before!! I had standard suspension before. Why is this?
Also the guy who did it said that the wheels didn't want to come off and the center bore is too small. Considering these are Audi rims then there shouldn't be any trouble.

Thanks

Rich

Default lift from new struts...

There's a few possible causes 1) the springs have some sag in them and new gas charged struts in the front is enough to pick them up a bit 2) the strut mounts were thicker than original or didn't seat fully (need to check part numbers etc closely for your year) 3) the springs aren't seated in their slots on the strut. If you have knocking going over a speed bump, its a good sign something didn't seat right in the struts - which can give the lift.

Default Re: lift from new struts...

Hi, thanks for replying.
The springs are brand new and should lower the car 40mm. The strut mounts are the green quattro ones, which should lower the car slightly. There isn't any noises at all from going over bumps.

Do you think that the front end will lower after time?

Its really disapointing, but the handling is a lot better.

Default The struts may settle...

I found that the bilsteins I put in my wife's volvo "settled" once they got a few hundred miles on them. I guess the only thing left to do is to look at how the springs are seated - the end of the spring is supposed to fit into the recessed areas of the base and the cap. If they weren't alligned or done fit (as they are after market) when the struts were reassembled they would seem a bit taller.

Default it's the struts

the boge's are for stock height, thus they will push the car back up. i had H&R's and boges, same issue, changed to bilstein sports, issue resolved.

sorry about that..

Default Nah, Boge works OK for lowered...

I have used Boge on all my Audis, including ones that were lowered...never had a problem. I'd say it's something with the mounting job...
