Default R&R rear package shelf?

I got myself a new rear package shelf. The current one is all buggered up from the previous owners attempts to install 6x9 speakers. So, I'm going to replace it. Any BTDT on removing and reinstalling?

You have to take out the top part of the rear seat. It is fastned i the trunk with 2 or 3 kind of hooks. Lift up in the seat and pull forward on the top portion of the seat, can be a little tricky

Once you get the seat out i think the shelf slides out forwards towards the front of the car, maybe there is a bolt or screw holding it to the metal plate below. If so, this must be accesible from the trunk.

Default Have fun!

Ya gotta take out the rear seat back, which on my '82 was a real PITA! It's been awhile since I did mine, so don't remember all the details, just that I'm not going to be in a hurry to do it again.
But don't let me discourage ya. Take your time, and be patient.

Default easy peasy

have to take out the rear seatback.. not as hard as it seems. pull out the bottom from the front, lift straight up from the bottom center of the seatback, youll feel a hook or 2 pop out. get as many of the small ones (3? 4?) as you can that way, the bottom of the seatback should be flopping around easily now. then the tricky part.. pull the bottom of the seatback out and up towards you. this will bend those big nasty hooks out a bit. do it a little at a time, then check and see if you can lift the seatback up and out. if not, bend em a little more. once its out you can bend em back easy enough to howvwer tight you want (however tight you can still get the seat back in dont forget to undo the seatbelts, those little covers come off on the sides with a flat screwdriver and the buttons on the floor pop off. all 11mm if i remember right. then that shelf just lifts right out. hope that helps, have fun

Default How do you keep your car clean duandcc? OT

Im starting to hate my black car. Even though its been great weather out I wash it, wax it, and eveything..2 days later its dusty as hell and somehow has crap on it. Is there a secret? Do car covers help? Im been leary about using one because Ive always though that it can scratch the paint..like if you drive home, and some dust debris are still there and you throw the cover right on top of them. Black sure looks good when its clean though, but its damn high maintnence.

Default Yep... never would want to own a black car...

White doesn't really thrill me either... I think my preference leans towards silver and yellow.

Default I LOVE blacks cars, but keeping it clean is a PITA

Nothing looks as good as a freshly washed/waxed black car. But keeping her clean is a battle. Having a garage helps. She gets a wash every week, and I use a California Car Duster as needed to get rid of dust & pollen. If you don't have a California Car Duster...get one!
