Rear brake frozen.

Rear brake frozen.
is there any way to tell if it's the cable, or the caliper? I've tried compressing the caliper with my big 'c' clamp, prying/pounding on the cable lever. I've unbolted the carrier & the assembly is only connected by the hose & cable. I'm thinking of cutting the cable, just so I can get it off.
But I don't want to if it's still OK .

Don't cut the cable! (yet)
Unlike the front brake pistons you have to rotate the caliper piston AND press it in at the same time to get it to back off.
Audi makes a special tool for this and if you don't have it, it's a sumbitch to get the piston down to a position where new pads can be installed. If the e-brake lever on the caliper is not easily moved back and forth by hand, the caliper will have to be replaced with
a rebuilt unit. Audi rear caliper e-brake levers are notorious for rusting solid.

I've got the caliper off the disc,
& separated from the carrier. Now I can get at the piston so maybe I can turn it back in, but I think its frozen pretty solid. anybody got a right rear caliper in decent shape that they'd be willing to part with?
