Repairing door handles
I got a door handle from the scrapyard yesterday but the lever on it that operates the latch was too short, and an odd shape. So i started experimenting, found that you can remove the pivot pin from the lever. Then just replace the short/wrong lever with the one from my old door handle. Worked like a champ.
I took a picture of the handle(dis-assembled) but can't figue out how to upload it....
Just thought I'd share.

Ya know what
My 4kq came with a drivers rear handle that had the lever that was too short as well. I thought "wtf is going on here". I actually have the handle on my desk, must have come from a VW or something.
Nice to know you can just drive out that pin and switch the lever part.

Re: Repairing door handles
Also worth knowing that rear door handles from a 5k work on a 4k! All you need to do is slide a piece of 1/4 inch vacuum tube over the lever that you are exchanging. Works like a charm!
