Scratch

I got a nasty scratch on my Coupe GT (jerks in a parking lot). It's covered under masking tape to protect the metal from the morning dew. My friend with skills and I are going to sand and putty and repaint, but I'm just coming to you guys for any suggestions. It's the "Oceanic Blue" color (I think that's what it is called) The sparkley blue color. How hard is this paint to find? Will it match without doing a complete new paint job (which would be nice, considering the roof has faded, but I don't have the money)

scan a sample from the body next to the portion that will be repainted. this will sometimes work to match older paint that is slightly discolored. it's what bodyshops usually do to blend old and new.
the other oprion would be to paint it to spec and have the rest buffed out by a pro. that may be able to bring the color out enough to blend. it depends on how faded the paint is. if it's too far gone there is no hope.
smetimes you just have to repaint the whole thing to make it look right.
you didn't say how big the scratch is, but i would probably do a good touch up on it and polish it out to level it and make it less noticeable. then save your money for a complete repaint. do it once and do it right. : )

Thanks to Mikey for originally posting it! The guy is a major detailing nut job and there are tons of pictures with step by step along with the products used for detailing the whole car.

https://forums.audiworld.com/4000/msgs/140050.phtml</a
