One the winter before in the 4000 which smashed the front grill/lights and fortunately no real body damage.... and one last winter in the A6 that cost $5,600 USD to fix.
Conservative estimates on the deer population on the CONUS is 25 million. that's a lot of bambi's running around! Few natural predators are around, so I guess that make our cars a un-natural predator.... and the insurance companies love it!
I could go on and on about the shift of wildlife balance between the predatory species and the food chain... however that's 'way off-topic!

beautiful country. nice curvy roads through the canyon lands. i like the road from cisco to moab. i've taken it many times in my cgt, it's fun.
if you have a fairly capable 4x4, the trails around moab area are incredicle. you can bike them as well (done that plenty of times). it's just beautiful there. chances are you've seen it since so many movies are filmed there.
another good one is the "northshore drive" outside of duluth minnesota. it goes along the shore of lake superior and is just incredible. i recommend late fall when the leaves are changing.
your right though, the black hills area of south dakota are beautiful with some fun roads. i've been there alot. we will probably go this summer sometime with the kids if we don't roadtrip it to arizona.

Just didn't post the pictures. That old Wrangler you see in the photos got pretty worked over on the Moab trails, and my mountain bike as well. Moab remains one of my favorite places of all time. I'm mad I haven't been back in about 2 years. If I ever go, I will have to call you up.

i use a big grill and brush guard on the front of my suburban since it sees the most miles for hunting. they just bounce off that.
funny story though, this year at deer camp we had a guy that had to leave and didn't have a deer to bring home. he was rushing off in his new white chevy to get home to the wife. he turned the corner about 200 yards from camp and plowed into a deer. he got his deer the hard way i guess. lol
