Default Ive actually never replaced one

Just clamp off the feed rubber hose as best you can without tearing it. The hose seems pretty strong.

I would undo the battery as well, just to be safe

Default Those hoses can be a real pain to get off..

I cut one hose last time.. be sure to have some extra fuel hose laying around. After all, its been on there for many years! Banjo washers can be re used if they are not scored to hell. Mind you, change your pump on a basically empty tank, because no matter how good to clamp off the line fuel will still come out... Good luck!

Default Eye protection ! ! ! ! !

like others have said you will spill fuel. It will go all over. Believe me you don't want any in your eyes. BTDT when replacing fuel lines.

Default Arm protection ! ! ! ! !

Eye protection is good. But you may need "arm protection" too!

As in 'the part you are holding, with the leaking gas all over it is higher than you elbow'.

Therefore, gas will run all the way down your arm to your elbow. Even *more* fun when it's really cold out! :-)

(Clamping the rubber fuel pump feed line is a *really* good idea! I also put a large bolt in the rubber feed hose, as soon as undo the hose from the pump. Keeps the big flood down a bit, and you can put a hose clamp on (over th bolt 'plug') to stop the leaking, if the pump is going to be disconnected for a while)

Maybe consider changing gas filters too, while you have the gas lines all apart anyway?
