poor cars been sitting over a year. i put new plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor. the rest will come but i turned it on today (just put a battery in) and it started up ok but it didnt wanna run, itd just go a few seconds and die. now, i rigged up the cold start injector to a button a long time ago bc the switch wasnt working. i tried pushing the button and every time i did it kicked up to a good idle. when i put it in, if i pushed it at idle itd kick the idle down and make it sputter, too much gas. so heres my theory: fuel injectors.. if the 4 normal ones arent workin right then it would make sense that itd idle better with the unclogged, less used cold start injector going. so i think thats what it is but i thought id ask before i go rippin injectors out.
now, if it is the fuel injectors, uhm... how do i do those? i just checked PMC and it lists fuel injector at 36 beans, is that for one or all 4? and there are injector holders, injector seals, injector holder seals, how much of this should i replace? should i do the O2 sensor? its coming out of a rich mans pocket so i can be extravagant

GAs is not stable it will break down, expect poor running until you can get the old crap out of the tank and some fresh clean in.
after that some injector cleaner would probably not hurt.

Then take it and fill it up with fresh gas. On a car that's been sitting for a while, that in itself is like a tune-up.

The O-rings are more than likely hard as a rock, allowing air to get past them. This applies to the CIS FI by the way.
Here's a test a mechanic taught me. Take some hot water and pour it on the injectors at idle. If the motor stumbles, the O-rings are bad.
I did mine on both the GTI and the 4kq, and it's not that hard to do at all. Get a good sized flat screwdriver to pry the injectors out, cut off the old O-rings, slip on the new ones and push the injectors back in.
The dealer was the only place I found to get them however. Be *sure* you get both kinds...one is a thick black one like a donut, and the other is a thin grey one. Do this before you shell out $$$ for new injectors.

I use a pair of vise grips to grip the hex on the injector(not the line), and leverage the pliers with a screwdriver.
