Still Running...

...the ****s. I tried what rocket suggested, advancing the cam timing by one notch. There was no difference, so I retarded it by one, still runs lousy. So I'm quite certain my timing is on.
I did notice something weird though. With the car idling, I pulled all plug wires off one at a time. The engine stumbled for all cylinders except for #1. I pulled the plug, nice and tan with a very strong spark. Could this be indicative of valves in need of adjustment? It's either that or that cylinder is toast, low compression. Just checked it a couple of months ago, 150 lbs. Sorry, I'm thinking out loud. Any ideas/suggestions guys, I'm in a pinch.

its possible the plug may have fouled or all that moving of wires broke the wire itself... Start simple, ya never know (When I change plugs and wires I always store the old set of wires/cap) I had a "new" wire fail at the distributor cap end. If the plug looks good, try the dark garage test - start the car, spritz the wires with water mist and turn off the lights. If you see blue lights, its either a bad wire or you're too close to Area 51.

..I already checked that. I can't squirt ant water anywhere outside right now, it'll freeze. I'm certain the plug and wire are OK. As for all the wires, I checked them and they are all around 5.7-5.9k. I'm leaning towards valves need shimming. I forgot to mention one thing. The head I ended up putting on the block never had cam followers. I removed the followers from turbo head, put them in the WE head and slapped in the turbo cam. Should I have installed the WE followers maybe??

..with the plug removed from the head. As I've stated before, the cylinder seems to be burning properly, as the plug is a nice tan color. I believe this would preclude button/cap issues?. What puzzles me is the engine stumbles when I removed all the plug wires, except for #1. I started the car with #1 wire off yesterday, and when I put it back on there was no noticable difference in the way it idled.

And then do the pulling the plug wires again,,if the problem moves,,its the injectors.
Sounds like something is out of balance,, one cylinders is producing more or less power than the others.
